About me

I am Cesar R. Hernandez, a public affairs and governance professional with more than fifteen years of experience working at the intersection of government, institutions, and emerging technology. For the past eight years, I have served as the founder and CEO of my own public affairs and strategy firm, advising governments, universities, and high growth companies navigating complex regulatory, political, and societal environments.

Through that work, I have partnered with organizations such as Tesla, Uber, Bird Rides, and Waymo during periods of rapid scale, public scrutiny, and institutional change. Leading my own firm has required managing competing stakeholder interests, building trust under pressure, and guiding teams through ambiguity with discipline and care. It has reinforced that effective leadership is less about visibility and more about judgment, listening, and follow through.

I am also a husband and the father of four. A beautiful responsibility I carry alongside my wife, who is the steady foundation of our family; her partnership makes everything else possible. Together, we manage a household that requires constant coordination, patience, and mutual respect.

That shared responsibility has deeply shaped how I approach leadership.

It has taught me that real strength comes from collaboration, that clarity matters most when things feel complex, and that long-term stewardship always outweighs short-term convenience.

At the Kennedy School, I have come to deeply value the strength, diversity, and thoughtfulness of this cohort. What stands out most is not only the range of experience represented here, but the shared commitment to public purpose.

Communities like this thrive when people feel heard, supported, and treated with fairness, especially during moments of transition.

My professional life has trained me to work quietly and effectively behind the scenes, helping surface concerns constructively, clarify processes, and ensure communication remains consistent and respectful. I believe leadership is ultimately an act of stewardship. It is about caring for people, maintaining continuity, and protecting trust.

I am seeking to serve in this role because I care deeply about how our cohort navigates the remainder of our time together and how we carry these relationships forward beyond graduation.

I would approach this responsibility with humility, discipline, and a genuine commitment to the well-being of this class.

Thank you,

Cesar R. Hernandez
